ESAB 28 is a medium-heavy rutile-coated mild steel electrode designed for welding unalloyed structural steels in all positions. It produces a smooth, radiographic-quality weld with low spatter. The slag is self-detachable, while the resulting bead has a uniform and finely rippled appearance.

The electrode is classified as SFA/AWS A5.1 E6013, EN ISO 2560-A E 38 0 RC 11, and IS 814 ER4212X. The datasheet also lists several approvals, including ABS, BV, DNV, IBR, IRS, LR and PDIL.
