Metro Carbon Steel Round Dies are used to cut external threads onto rods, bolts and studs, complementing hand taps (which cut internal threads) to form a complete threading toolkit for workshop, fabrication and maintenance use. Made from carbon steel, they offer reliable cutting performance for general workshop threading tasks.

A key feature of this range is double-face chamfering — both faces of the die are chamfered, allowing the die to be used from either side. This effectively doubles the die's useful cutting life compared to a single-chamfered die, since once one face wears, the die can simply be flipped and used from the other side, maximizing the number of threads that can be cut before replacement is needed.

The range is organized by outer diameter, with each diameter size accommodating multiple specific thread sizes across both BSW (imperial) and metric standards, plus BSP pipe threads on larger sizes. This diameter-based grouping (13/16" up to 3") means a single die body can be selected to match the die holder or stock available in a workshop, while the specific thread size is determined by the die's internal cutting profile.
