Metro HSS Round Dies are made from high speed steel (HSS), offering superior heat resistance and edge retention compared to standard carbon steel dies. HSS holds its cutting edge at higher temperatures generated during threading, making these dies better suited to harder materials, faster cutting speeds and more demanding production threading work than their carbon steel counterparts.

Like Metro's carbon steel round dies, this range is organized by outer diameter, with each diameter size covering a range of specific thread sizes across BSW (imperial), metric and BSP pipe thread standards. This lets workshops match the die body to their existing die holder or stock while selecting the internal cutting profile for the exact thread needed.

For workshops running higher-volume threading work, or cutting threads into tougher materials, the HSS range offers a meaningful step up in durability and performance over standard carbon steel dies, extending tool life between resharpening or replacement.
